In the case of a method for slicing foodstuffs and for depositing separating sheets on the slices of foodstuffs which have been deposited in a fan-like manner, an adjustable carriage 1 is used to accommodate the single foodstuff item which is sliced by means of a cutting device 2. The slices are transported on the rear 3b of a transporting device 3 to a depositing device 4 which deposits them on a conveying device 5 which is connected to a separating sheet delivery device 6 which deposits a separating sheet after each slice of foodstuff. Immediately after deposition of a slice of foodstuff, the conveying device executes an advancing movement to the separating sheet delivery device 6 and a separating sheet pivoting device 63, 64, 65 contained in the separating sheet delivery device 6 receives the separating sheets which have been unwound from a separating sheet reel 7 and have been cut off by means of a severing device 62. At the same time as a separating sheet is severed from the separating sheet reel 7, a pivot movement is initiated by means of which the separating sheet is deposited on the slice of the foodstuff in question. <IMAGE>
