<p>PURPOSE: A protection circuitry for reversible connectors is provided to protect other components in an electronic device from an undesired power supply voltage by forming a first branch and a second branch that is opposite to the first branch and receiving control signals from a power polarity detection circuitry. CONSTITUTION: A power polarity detection circuitry included in a connector port of an electronic device forms a first branch and a second branch that is opposite to the first branch. The power polarity detection circuitry detects a power supply voltage on the first branch(302). The power polarity detection circuitry drives a disable signal to the second branch(304). After the charge pump circuitry output is stabilized, the first branch is enabled to allow the power supply voltage to be conveyed to other components of the electronic device(306).
