PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to have stability against short circuit due to external factors, and to prevent excessive pressure increase by causing internal short circuit and operating a fuse. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery(100) comprises: an electrode assembly(10); a case(40) accepting the electrode assembly; a cap assembly(50) which comprises a short hole(51c) and a cap plate sealing an inlet of the case; and a short circuit unit(60) which comprises a short plate(61), and a connecting plate electrically connected to the electrode assembly. The case and the cap assembly are electrically connected to the electrode assembly.
