<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption needed for stopping rotation of a sub scanning motor, in an image forming apparatus including the sub scanning motor for carrying a paper sheet in a sub scanning direction and a main scanning motor for moving a print head in a main scanning direction. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes a carrying belt 201 for carrying a paper sheet in the sub scanning direction and a carriage 130 for moving the print head, which outputs a developer onto a paper sheet surface, in the main scanning direction. The image forming apparatus includes: a latch part 210 for obstructing the rotation of the carrying belt 201 by being in contact with a paper sheet carrying mechanism including the carrying belt 201 and a carrying roller 202; and a controller for executing control so that the latch part 210 is in contact with the carrying mechanism while the carriage 130 is moved in the main scanning direction, and executing control so that the latch part 210 is separated from the carrying mechanism while the paper sheet is carried in the sub scanning direction by rotationally driving the carrying roller 202. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
