PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display system, device, and method capable of displaying a three-dimensional image and a two-dimensional image in three dimensions.

SOLUTION: In an image display system according to an embodiment, determination means determines whether an image to be displayed on a display device is an image for a stereoscopic view or an image for a planar view on the basis of information on the image. Switching control means controls the display device so as to switch the display device between a stereoscopic view mode and a planar view mode according to a determination result by the determination means. Switching means switches the display device between the stereoscopic view mode and the planar view mode according to control by the switching control means.
