<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a variable valve device that can secure as much conditions in which a valve timing can be changed according to an engine operating state. <P>SOLUTION: A variable valve device 20 of an internal combustion engine 1 includes a hydraulic valve timing changing mechanism 30 for changing valve timing VT of an intake valve 21, a valve timing locking mechanism 40 for locking the valve timing VT to an intermediate angle phase VTmdl, and an electronic controller 81 for controlling an operation of the valve timing changing mechanism 30. The electronic controller 81 limits the variable range of the valve timing VT in accordance with the composition of hydraulic oil, when the operational state of the valve timing changing mechanism 30 is a phase-unlocked state in which the valve timing VT can be changed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
