<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition of a pneumatic tire for a tire tread having excellent low fuel consumption property, workability and improved wear resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition for the tire tread is obtained by mixing 10-30 pts.mass butadiene polymer having number average molecular weight (Mn) of 20,000-50,000, 5-70 pts.mass silica and 5-70 pts.mass carbon black (CB) having 50-100 m<SB POS="POST">2</SB>/g CTAB adsorption specific surface area, based on 100 pts.mass diene rubber containing 5-40 pts.mass butadiene having weigh average molecular weight (Mw) of 700,000-900,000, Mn of 200,000-400,000 and Mw/Mn of 1.5-3.0 and 60-95 pts.mass styrene butadiene rubber.
