<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric work machine that can be prevented from malfunctioning even if a key switch is turned on before preparations for drive or the like are ready. <P>SOLUTION: A lawnmower work machine 1 which uses a battery 31 as a drive source is provided with lever sensors 23, 24 for detecting the operation positions of turning levers 21, 22, and is provided with a control device 50 that energizes an electrical path 32b between the battery 31 and motors 15, 16 for running parts after the neutral positions of the turning levers 21, 22 have been detected. The lawn mower work machine 1 is a motor-driven passenger vehicle and provided with a sitting sensor 33 for detecting sitting in a seat 5.
