<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp including an arc tube made of silica glass and a phosphor layer coated on the inner surface of the arc tube and applying ultraviolet light, which has a structure allowing ultraviolet light having a wavelength of 200-260 nm to be efficiently applied and the phosphor layer on the inner surface of the arc tube to be not easily separated. <P>SOLUTION: The phosphor layer includes a phosphor represented by general formula: (Y<SB POS="POST">1-X</SB>,Pr<SB POS="POST">X</SB>)Al<SB POS="POST">3</SB>B<SB POS="POST">4</SB>O<SB POS="POST">12</SB>.
