<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer which can form a cured material high in flexibility, excellent in transparency, further excellent in solvent resistance, and preferred in a light waveguide. <P>SOLUTION: The polymer contains a polyarylene sulfide chain containing one or more thianthrene skeletons, and a reactive functional group. The reactive functional group is a mercapto group, a styryl group, an α-methylstyryl group, or a (meth)acrylic group, etc. A hardening resin composition containing the polymer and a crosslinking agent is provided.
