<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet embedded rotor capable of reducing shaft length of the rotor, components constituting the rotor, and flux leakage. <P>SOLUTION: Permanent magnet housing holes 7 for inserting a permanent magnet 6, cooling wind holes 8 for cooling a rotor 1, and through holes 9 for fixing balance weight built-in end plates 5 for closing both end parts of a rotor core 2 by a fastening member 3 so as to prevent the permanent magnet 6 from jumping out of the permanent magnet housing hole 7 are provided in parallel to a shaft hole 4 of the rotor core 2. The balance weight built-in end plate 5 has a balance adjustment function for adjusting an unbalanced amount, and an end plate function for closing an opening of the magnet housing hole 7 so as to prevent the permanent magnet 6 from jumping out of the magnet housing hole 7. A notch 11 notched from an outer periphery in a radial direction of the balance weight built-in end plate 5 is provided.
