An apparatus and a method for reserving a broadcasting program are provided to simply perform the reservation viewing and the reservation record of a broadcasting program corresponding to additional information through an external display by using the additional information about a broadcasting program capable of being reproduced by using the external display. An additional information detecting unit(220) detects and analyzes additional information which is information about a broadcasting program among DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) signals. A storing unit(240) stores the detected additional information. If a broadcasting reservation time included in the detected additional information is reached, a control unit(230) provides the additional information to a user, and transmits broadcasting channel information in the received additional information to an external display by referring to channel identification information previously stored in the storing unit(240) according to the input of the user. An external device interface unit(250) converts a channel of the external display according to the channel identification information corresponding to the broadcasting channel information transmitted to the external display, and provides an interface to reproduce the broadcasting program. |
