<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interphone system capable of preventing a visitor from being subjected to a strong light beam from illumination part of a door phone, and allowing a resident to immediately confirm the face of the visitor with a color image. <P>SOLUTION: The interphone system includes: a door phone 1 which is installed outside the housing and is capable of calling a resident; and an interphone master unit 2 which is installed in the housing and is capable of communicating with the door phone 1 responding the call from the door phone 1. The door phone 1 includes: a call button for calling the resident; an imaging section 14 that takes an image in a predetermined area to obtain a color image; and an illumination section 15 capable of illuminating the predetermined area. The interphone master unit 2 has a display section 24 that displays a color image obtained by the imaging section 14. The door phone 1 provides operation modes including a porch lamp mode to turn ON the illumination section 15 as a porch lamp; and a visitor reception mode to turn ON the illumination section 15 on the basis of an operation made on a call button.
