<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club head having excellent vibration absorbing effect. <P>SOLUTION: This iron type golf club head 1 includes a face plate part 11, a cavity part 14 on the rear side of the face plate part, and a sole part 13. In the golf club head 1, a viscoelastic body 20 is made to adhere to the back face of the face plate part 11, and a cover plate 30 overlapping the viscoelastic body 20 is provided.
