<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery protection IC in which safety can be ensured even if the polarities of a charger are connected reversely, and to provide a battery device. <P>SOLUTION: A first switch element is provided between an overcurrent detection element and a VDD terminal, and the current path between the overcurrent detection terminal and the VDD terminal is interrupted when the polarities of a charger are connected reversely.
