PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for biochemical reaction having a novel structure and a method for draining liquid from the substrate.

SOLUTION: In a chip for biochemical reaction 10, there are provided, on a surface 1A, a cylindrical wall part 2 protruding from the surface 1A and a hydrophobic ring 4 of which height from the surface 1A is negligible at a predetermined distance from and inside the cylindrical wall part 2. An area enclosed by the hydrophobic ring 4 is a probe fixing region 5 for fixing a probe for biochemical reaction.
