<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which it is inconvenient for a user to locate storage means at a replaceable position every time a printer determines that there are no recording materials although the user hopes to continuously use the storage means determined that there are no recording materials. <P>SOLUTION: The printer performing printing using the recording materials includes: the storage means for storing the recording materials; moving means for moving the storage means determined that there are no recording materials to a position capable of replenishing recording materials; and setting means for setting continuous usage of the storage means determined that there are no recording materials according to an instruction of the user.
