PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bed configured to assist or support a subject.

SOLUTION: The bed device (200) includes: a top plate (290) on which the subject is placed; a top plate drive unit (205) which vertically moves the top plate; a movement permission switch (230) disposed at an end of the top plate to determine permission or non-permission of the vertical movement of the top plate by the top plate drive unit; a first sensor (210) disposed in the vicinity of the movement permission switch and on the lower side of the top plate to detect a pressing force; a second sensor (220) disposed in the vicinity of the movement permission switch and on the upper side of the top plate to detecting a pressing force; and a control unit (215) which outputs a signal to raise the top plate to the top plate drive unit upon detection of pressing force by the first sensor with the movement permission switch being in a permission state, and outputs a signal to lower the top plate to the top plate drive unit upon detection of pressing force by the second sensor with the movement permission switch being in the permission state.
