摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yeast belonging to genus Kluyveromyces which is modified so as to improve ethanol yield from xylose. <P>SOLUTION: There is disclosed a mutant yeast in which at least one or more triose phosphate dehydrogenase genes, TDH1 gene and TDH2 gene are attenuated in a yeast belonging to genus Kluyveromyces. As the mutant yeast provides almost same ethanol yield from glucose and considerably improved ethanol yield from xylose, for example, ethanol can be produced in high yield in a medium containing xylose derived from biomass containing lignocellulose such as wood-based biomass. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
