ROUTE FAULT MONITORING SYSTEM FOR IP NETWORK, ROUTE FAULT MONITORING METHOD, ROUTE FAULT MONITORING HOST, AND PROGRAM OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify in which of a forward path or a return path communication disconnection occurs in the case that a response packet to a monitoring packet transmitted to a monitoring target host by a monitoring host is not returned due to a fault and the like.

SOLUTION: A monitoring host is connected with a monitoring target host by a first route and a second route, and monitors faults in the routes with the monitoring target host. The monitoring host transmits to the monitoring target host a multicast monitoring packet performing multicast communication using the first route as a forward path and a return path to enable reception of a response to the monitoring packet even when faults occur in the second route.
