<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device with a simple configuration capable of performing a brightness control with a high accuracy by measuring brightness of external light. <P>SOLUTION: A projection display device 10 includes: a projection display 11 for emitting display light L1 representing a display image G; a reflection section 12d for reflecting incident light; and a transmission section 12e for transmitting incident light. Further, the projection display device 10 includes: a projection object member 12 for reflecting the display light L1 on the reflection section 12d to display the display image G; and control means 14 for controlling the projection display 11. An optical sensor 13 for irradiating external light L2 transmitted through the transmission section 12e to measure brightness is arranged on a non-display surface side of the projection object member 12.
