<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveyance device that quickly detects possible meandering and shortens a meandering correction time after a time when the meandering occurs by a time when a conveyance state is stabilized. <P>SOLUTION: In the conveyance device 1 including a dancer mechanism 2 that applies predetermined tension T to metal foil 10 transported by a plurality of rollers R1-R11, average roughness σ is uniquely is calculated from the web surface roughness B of the metal foil 10, a graph in Fig.5 estimates an aerial floating height h where the metal foil 10 is separated from the rollers R1-R11, and aph in Fig.7 calculates the tension T needed to suppress the metal foil 10 from sliding based on the average surface roughness σ and the aerial floating height h.
