<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL display device which excels in light extraction efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: An organic EL display device of the present invention comprises: an organic EL element which includes a transparent electrode and a counter electrode, and an organic compound layer containing a light-emitting layer between the transparent electrode and the counter electrode; a particulate containing layer disposed on the optical path of light emitted from the light-emitting layer; and a planarization layer. In the organic EL display device, the particulate containing layer contains an organic resin material, first particulates and second particulates whose weight averaged particle size is larger than that of the first particulates. The refractive index of the organic resin material having the first particulates added thereto, n<SB POS="POST">1</SB>, and the average refractive index of the organic compound layer, n<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, satisfy the relationship ¾n<SB POS="POST">1</SB>-n<SB POS="POST">2</SB>¾<0.25. The refractive index of the organic resin material having the first particulates added thereto, n<SB POS="POST">1</SB>, and the refractive index of the second particulates, n<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, satisfy the relationship n<SB POS="POST">3</SB>-n<SB POS="POST">1</SB>>0.2.
