<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development apparatus capable of effectively preventing co-rotation phenomenon of a developer recovered to a second conveyance part associated with the rotation of a developer carrier even when the diameter of the developer carrier is reduced or even when the circumferential speed of the developer carrier is increased. <P>SOLUTION: A development chamber 41a supplies a developer to a developing sleeve 44 while transporting the developer along the developing sleeve 44. An agitation chamber 41b has both ends communicating with the development chamber 41a and transports the developer in a direction opposite to the development chamber 41a while recovering the developer from the developing sleeve 44. A surface 101a of a co-rotation prevention member 101 is arranged at an angular position of an interval of magnetic poles of the same polarity of a magnet roller 45, and faces the developing sleeve 44 with a gap between them to separate the development chamber 41a and the agitation chamber 41b from each other.
