This radial foil bearing (3, 20) is provided with: a cylindrical top foil (10, 21); a back foil (11) located on the outer side in the radial direction of the top foil (10, 21); and a cylindrical bearing housing (12, 25) for accommodating the top foil (10, 21) and the back foil (11). The top foil (10, 21) is formed by wrapping a rectangular metal foil in a circumferential direction around a rotating shaft (1). The metal foil is provided with: a first uneven part (17a, 23a) in one area, having a first convex portion (15a, 22a) and a first concave portion (16a, 23a); and a second uneven part (17b, 24b) on the opposite side from the first area having a second convex portion (15b, 22b) and a second concave portion (16b, 23b). Also, the metal foil is coiled in a cylindrical shape so that the first uneven part (17a, 23a) and the second uneven part (17b, 24b) overlap. The first convex portion (15a, 22a) and the second convex portion (15b, 22b) are drawn to the bearing housing (12, 25) side, passing through the corresponding first concave portion (16a, 23a) and second concave portion (16b, 23b), and are engaged in the engagement groove (13, 26) formed in the inner circumferential surface of the bearing housing (12, 25). |
