Preparing lignin sulfonate containing greases comprises (a) mixing at least a base oil, a calcium soap, optionally prepared in situ, with >= 10 carbon atoms, where at least calcium hydroxide is added when the calcium soaps is prepared in situ, a complexing agent, a calcium lignin sulfonate having an average molecular weight of = 10000 g/mole, and heating to >= 120[deg] C to obtain a base grease under the removal of low boiling components; and (b) cooling the base grease and adding base oil and optionally additives, with mixing. Independent claims are included for: (1) a grease composition comprising 55-92 (preferably 70-85) wt.% of the base oil, 0-40 (preferably 2-10) wt.% of additives, 3-40 (preferably 5-20) wt.% of calcium soaps, 0.5-20 (preferably 0.5-10) wt.% of complexing agent, 0.01-2 wt.% of optionally excess calcium hydroxide, 0.5-50 (preferably 2-8) wt.% of calcium lignin sulfonate and optionally further alkaline earth lignin sulfonates; and (2) a constant velocity joint shaft comprising the grease composition to at least one lubricating point, where the constant velocity joint comprises an encapsulation in the region of the lubrication point, where the encapsulation is bellows.
