The device has a scattering body (1) comprising an inlet surface (6) for coupling pump light (5), where the device comprises luminescent material for conversion of the pump light to converted light (9). Scattering centers (3) are formed in a matrix (2) of the body. An outlet surface (10) decouples the converted light, and the body is designed for scattering the pump light in a main propagation direction enclosing an angle of greater than 30 degrees with the outlet surface such that the converted light passes the outlet surface in a main radiation direction under an angle of 60 degrees.
