Processing images stored by a plurality of independent online image repositories (110-1 to 110-N) includes retrieving a stream (230-1, 230-2) of images from each of the online image repositories (110-1 to 110-N) in parallel using credentials (225) received from a user for each of the online image repositories (110-1 to 110-N); assigning each image received in any of the streams (230-1, 230-2) to one of a plurality of parallel processing nodes (515-1 to 515-N) for content-based analysis; and storing results of the content-based analysis in a distributed file system (505).
