The water screw conveyor (10) consists of an inner tube (2) and an outer tube (4) arranged along the common longitudinal axis (X), and several helical screw blades (3) arranged circumferentially between the tubes and connected with the tubes. The frontal edge (7) of each blade is formed in sickle-shape. An edge guard (20) is arranged perpendicular to the axis, in each of the blades. The width of edge guard is greater than the thickness of the frontal edge of each blade or twice the thickness of the frontal edge of each blade. An independent claim is included for an energy conversion system.
