The device has a data processing unit (102) to which data for state of a vehicle (101), are transmitted by the vehicle. An input unit (103) is connected with the data processing unit for transmission of data. The data processing unit predefines an event that depends on a state of the vehicle and triggers output of information. An output unit (104) is connected with the data processing unit and outputs the information. The data processing unit is designed such that the output of the information on the output unit is triggered by the data processing unit when the predefined events occur. The input unit and/or output unit are integrated in a mobile communication unit e.g. smartphone and computer. An independent claim is also included for a method for assisting a driver of a vehicle during planning of events.
