<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element emitting dark blue light in which chromaticity change is small during performing luminance modulation. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided an organic electroluminescent element using a compound represented by the following general formula. (In the formula, n1 represents an integer of 0 to 8. R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>represents a substituent substituting a hydrogen atom of pyrene skeleton independently.
