<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging unit and a camera that suppress internal reflection of image light to provide images in which the occurrence of flare is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging unit 40 of the present invention includes a rectangular image pickup device 40S, and a rectangular light-transmissive optical member 43 placed on the front side of the image pickup device 40S.
