<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which is not likely to cause cracks in a ceramic package when a metal lid is joined to the ceramic package by seam welding. <P>SOLUTION: An optical module includes: a ceramic package 11 on which optical elements 21, 22 are mounted; a metal lid 12 covering an opening of the ceramic package; and a sleeve for connecting an optical fiber connecting with the lid through a joint sleeve. The rid 12 is composed of a flat part 17 joined to the ceramic package and a cylindrical part 18 into which the joint sleeve fits, and a stress relaxation part 19 is formed between the flat part 17 and the cylindrical part 18. The stress relaxation part 19 has a form which is easily deformed by a load acting in the plane direction of the flat part 17, and, for example, a cross section shape is formed into a U shape. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
