The hydropower plant comprises a rotatably mounted impeller (2) which is fully submerged in water, and a housing (1) with a semicircular recess which encloses one half of the impeller, the other half of which is exposed to the flow of water. The outside surface of the housing is concentric with the aforesaid recess and is provided with radially positioned jets (6) for flushing the riverbed, and cutters (7). Shafts (8) are hingedly attached to the housing axle and to posts (9) embedded in the riverbed (10). For the purposes of installing the hydropower plant in the riverbed, the hydropower plant is provided with a drive for the reciprocal rocking movement of the housing relative to the shafts. Water conduits (11), rigidly connected to the housing, are intended to supply water or a mixture of water and sand to the jets (6). The drive for effecting the rocking movement of the housing can comprise hydraulic power cylinders (12) which are hingedly mounted between the shafts (8) and the water conduits (11).
