A pouch manufactured in plastics, particularly PVC is used for fluid containment. The pouch consists of an extruded tube welded at the ends and which has ribs and associated hollows formed on the inner surface. The ribs have a spiral pattern for preventing pouch sides from adhering to each other. A production process uses an annular die with teeth and grooves formed on the inner circumference to create the ribs and hollows. The spiral pattern is achieved by die rotation. Extruded tube is guided from the haul off unit direct to a welding station where upper and lower pouch edges are welded. USE/ADVANTAGE - For containment of fluids, partic. blood. Prodn. is simpler and sterilisation is easier for medical use. The ribs and hollows only exist on the inner pouch surface.
