<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element material which shows high luminous efficiency with a controlled luminous wavelength, and has an extended emission lifetime, and an organic EL element, an illuminating device, and a display device using the organic EL element material. <P>SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescence element material contains metal complex including for example 2-substituted-1,2,4-triazole-3-yl pyrimidine bonded, as ligand, to platinum or iridium.
