<p>When a miniature cassette (30) is inserted in the recorder, an adaptor (12) inside the machine is automatically deployed in the space normally occupied by a standard size. The drive spool of the tape is coupled via a pressure roller with the normal drive spindle, while the take up spool fits over the other normal drive spindle. A loop of the tape is drawn from the cassette and a hinged arm (31) and moving roller (32) move the loop out to the position at which it would be in a standard cassette opening. Conventional guide rollers and other mechanisms then guide the loop over the fixed (25,26) and rotating (23) head assemblies for recording or playback.</p> |
