PURPOSE: An ultrafine-grained high-strength wire rod and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to obtain a wire rod with enhanced strength and prevent the reduction elongation ratio by employing severe plastic deformation using groove rolling in a warm region. CONSTITUTION: An ultrafine-grained high-strength wire rod has the same composition as SCM435 steel. The wire rod includes a pro-eutectoid ferrite structure having an average size of 1 micron meter or less and carbide having an average size of 200nm or less. A manufacturing method of the ultrafine-grained high-strength comprises a step of groove-rolling SCM435 steel at an area reduction ratio of 80% or more in a warm region and a step of air-cooling the SCM435 steel to the room temperature. |
