<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a lithium ion secondary battery having excellent cycle characteristics and to provide a battery device. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium ion secondary battery includes: a positive electrode which has a positive electrode active material capable of storing/discharging lithium ions; a negative electrode which has a negative electrode active material capable of storing/discharging lithium ions and composed of silicon or/and silicon compound; and an electrolyte.
