<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair treatment composition for improving setting property of hair while keeping natural feeling on a hand without damaging hair, by modifying the inner part of hair by a nonchemical treatment, and to provide a method for caring hair with the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The hair treatment composition contains a fatty acid ascorbyl expressed by general formula (1).
