<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a start torque transmitting mechanism that can be arranged in a narrow space between an engine body and a transmission, and moreover, can use a rolling bearing and a one-way clutch in a preferred environment. <P>SOLUTION: The mechanism includes a ring gear 10 to which a torque is transmitted from a start motor M, a rolling bearing 11 for rotatably supporting the ring gear 10 relative to a crankshaft 4, a rotary body 12 that integrally rotates together with the crankshaft 4, a one-way clutch 13 for transmitting a one-way torque from the ring gear 10 rotated by the motor M to the rotary body 12 and cutting off the transmission of the reverse torque, and a seal part 14 for preventing engine oil from flowing to the one-way clutch 13 from the crankshaft 4 side.
