<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an accuracy of subject tracking in the situation where a view of a subject is varied, in a subject tracking apparatus for performing subject tracking based on a degree of correlation between a reference image and an input image. <P>SOLUTION: Regions having the maximum degree of correlation with respective first and second registered reference images are determined from among regions in an input image. The maximum degree of correlation with the first reference image and that with the second reference image are compared with each other to identify the region of a specific subject from the regions having the maximum degree of correlation. After the region of the specific subject is identified, the second reference image is updated on the basis of the identified region of the specific subject, but the first reference image is not updated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
