This medium-stirring pulverizer is provided with a guide ring (50) that divides a lower portion of a pulverizing chamber (14) in the radial direction and comprises a pulverizing chamber lower portion inner section and an annular pulverizing chamber lower portion outer section. The guide ring (50) causes a flow of a mixture of raw material slurry and pulverization medium to be a helical flow which is centered on the guide ring (50) and in which the pulverizing chamber lower portion outer section serves as a rising passage and the pulverizing chamber lower portion inner section serves as a descent passage. A rotational flow suppressing means (92) for reinforcing the secondary flows of the helical flow, in order to stabilize the helical flow, is provided within the pulverizing chamber.
