<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time required before starting data communication when performing data communication passing through NAT. <P>SOLUTION: A communication terminal 10 performs in parallel a connection check on each communication route available for data communication with an opposite communication terminal 20. When the connectability of a new communication route among each communication route is confirmed after data communication through a data communication route is started, the communication terminal 10 compares the order of priority between the data communication route and the new communication route.
