A refrigerator (300), provided with: a heat-insulated box (21) having a heat-insulated wall; a mechanical compartment (60) arranged on the back surface of the heat-insulated box (21); a refrigeration cycle having at least a compressor (50); and a controller for controlling the operation of the compressor (50). The compressor (50) and the controller are arranged inside the mechanical compartment (60), and the mechanical compartment (60) is arranged so as to be opposite, with the heat-insulated wall interposed therebetween, to a storage compartment, which is set to a refrigeration temperature zone. This allows electricity consumption to be reduced at a low cost without investment in dies, addition of new members, or the like. |
