This culture device (100, 200), which cultures algae, is provided with: a culture pool (110) that has an opening (112) at the top surface and that holds an algae liquid (M) that is a culture liquid containing an algae; a sheet section (130) that has light permeability and flexibility, and seals at least a portion of the opening (112) of the culture pool (110); and a gas supply unit (124, 160, 212) that supplies high-concentration CO2 gas having a higher concentration of carbon dioxide than the atmosphere to between the culture pool (110) and the sheet section (130). By means of at least a portion of the supplied high-concentration CO2 gas, a gas retention space (G) that retains gas between the liquid surface (114) of the algae liquid (M) and the sheet section (130) is formed. |
