The method involves controlling a sequence drive (16) e.g. electromotive linear drive, based on guide values e.g. positions, which are characterized for guide drives (4, 6, 8). A sequential axis guide value that is characterized for controlling the sequence drive, is determined by a calculation specification of the parameters, where the specification is freely defined and varied by a user. The parameters are repeatedly detected with a same preset interpolation cycle. A measuring variable e.g. temperature, is additionally used for determining the axis guide value. An independent claim is also included for a machine.
