The method involves introducing solid component (101) comprising metal into a cavity (102) of a tool (103). The solid component is provided between the tool and workpiece (104) such as semi-finished metal preferably sheet, profile and/or pipe and the workpiece is pressed against the tool by a punch. The workpiece is plastically deformed and the plastic is plasticized, so that plastic is filled in cavity and the workpiece is connected. An independent claim is included for a component.
