<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric element which prevents crystal grains from dropping off from a surface of an element assembly and prevents the occurence of peeling between the element assembly and an electrode, and to provide a manufacturing method of the piezoelectric element. <P>SOLUTION: A piezoelectric element 1 includes: an element assembly 3; a pair of electrodes 5, 7; and a resin 9. The element assembly 3 has a pair of main surfaces 3a, 3b and an end surface 3c extending in the facing direction of the pair of main surfaces 3a, 3b so as to connect the pair of main surfaces 3a, 3b and is formed by a piezoelectric ceramic material. The pair of electrodes 5, 7 are respectively disposed on the pair of main surfaces 3a, 3b. The resin 9 covers an entire surface of the end surface 3c and is disposed so as to contact with the pair of electrodes 5, 7.
