<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process cartridge and an image forming apparatus capable of keeping a charging roller separated from an image carrier by predetermined distance before use, capable of cancelling a separation state of the charging roller without increasing burden of a user when use, and capable of preventing erroneous cancellation by the user before use. <P>SOLUTION: A process cartridge attachable to or detachable from an apparatus body which has a separating part comprises a separation holding member having: a locking part which can be engaged with a process cartridge frame body, with a charging roller separated from a photoreceptor drum; and a part to be operated which passes through the frame body and on which the separating part can act.
